NHL Playoffs: Lightning rally to beat Pens

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Tampa Bay Lightning had an answer for everything while getting within one victory of their second consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup finals. The Lightning erased deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before beating the Penguins 4-3 in Pittsburgh on Jason Garrison’s goal 53 seconds into overtime. Garrison’s second overtime goal of the postseason puts Tampa Bay ahead three games to two in the NHL’s Eastern Conference finals. Garrison was the hero after Nikita Kucherov notched his second goal of the game, beating Marc-Andre Fleury to tie the game with 3:16 left in regulation. Kucherov also tallied in the second period, 70 seconds after Alex Killorn got the Lightning within 2-1. Kucherov leads the NHL with 11 playoff goals. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 32 shots and was perfect after Chris Kunitz gave the Penguins their final lead with 50 seconds remaining in the second period. Fleury wasn’t that sharp in his first start since March 31, stopping just 21 shots. The Lightning can wrap the series at home on Tuesday.
The St. Louis Blues are sticking with goalie Jake Allen in Monday night’s Game 5 of the Western Conference finals against the San Jose Sharks. Allen was strong in Game 4 in his first start of the postseason, making 31 saves in a 6-3 victory in San Jose on Saturday night that knotted the series at two games apiece. Brian Elliott started the first three games, giving way to Allen in the third period in Game 3.
