(SANILAC COUNTY) — Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies have been riding along on school buses in Sanilac County to help enforce safety of students from drivers that are not stopping for bus lights. Sheriff Garry Biniecki says that school buses are the safest form of transportation to and from school for children. The program is a proactive measure to insure further safety practices. Along with a deputy on the bus, a patrol car traveled nearby to stop violators of the law regarding school buses. Biniecki reminds motorists to prepare to stop when a bus is slowing down and has its yellow lights on. Once the bus lights are flashing red, you must stop. He also asks drivers to be mindful of children playing outside during these warmer days. Be extra cautious and avoid being distracted while driving.
