(PORT HURON) — A failing section of seawall along the Black River in Port Huron is being repaired. Reports say crews started working on the seawall about two weeks ago after noticing it shifting into the Black River east of the Seventh Street Bridge. Lennie Naeyaert, city engineer and director of public works, says water that led to rust and ice pushed a roughly 20-foot span of seawall out and snapped three tiebacks, which help hold the wall in place and keep it and the land from shifting toward the river. The area is blocked to pedestrian traffic during construction, which officials say should wrap up by the end of the month.
