LOS ANGELES (AP) – The death of Anton Yelchin is now a federal case. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has been in touch with authorities in Los Angeles – and has contacted Fiat Chrysler about the death of the “Star Trek” actor on Sunday. Yelchin was killed when his Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled and pinned the 27-year-old actor against a mailbox pillar and security fence. The Grand Cherokee is under a recall order because of a problem that causes the car to appear to be in park – when it really isn’t. Owners of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and other vehicles under the recall are being asked to make sure their car is in park and completely turned off before they get out.
