Every Year, the Michigan Museums Association (MMA) presents awards to members for exceptional programs, exhibits, and individuals that made an impact during the year. 2020 has been challenging on many fronts, so they are putting their typical program on hold in favor of celebrating MMA members, individuals and institutions, that supported, adapted, and innovated this year.
The following organizations were found to have transitioned during the COVID-19 Pandemic to fulfill their mission in a new way and have been chosen to receive a MMA “PIVOT” Award:
Berrian County Historical Association
Harbor Springs Historical Museum
Michigan Supreme Court Learning Center
Sanilac County Historical Society
Sanilac County Historical Society board of directors’ Bill Gray, says, “We are pleased and honored to accept this award from the Michigan Museums Association. Our administrator and volunteers worked incredibly hard this year to come up with new and innovative ways to keep our members and the community involved, and also to generate much-needed revenue for the society. Our Pop-up Weddings in particular, were born of the need to offer CPVID-friendly options to brides, and have been financially successful for the Historical Society.”
An ONLINE celebration and virtual distribution of the awards for MMA MEMBERS ONLY will be held on Thursday, November 19th via Zoom.
